What is Sentinel Mentors

Sentinel mentors is a youth arts based mentoring initiative and advocacy group dedicated to educating youth about the careers in the arts and contributions of black creatives to the world. Sentinel mentors works with youth in developing skills in the fine arts, exposing young people to careers in the arts and is the youth outreach arm of mbacc,inc.

The history of Sentinel Mentors

Sentinel mentors started in 2016 as a peer to peer mentoring group for black boys at case high school in racine wisconsin. we grew from 3 young men to over 65 in one year. sentinel mentors was founded and lead by scott terry, who was an educator and high school football coach at the time. The support team also included coach daryl carter and educator tasia white was also added to the team.

over time, sentinel mentors expanded from one high school to two and also became a mentor group for black boys and girls in high school. over the years, sentinel mentors has been involved in many community service projects and initiatives to build educational and career opportunities for youth.
