To kick off the return of the podcast, we are honored to welcome Rhonda Sewell, a nationally respected cultural strategist, policy advocate, and arts administrator currently serving as Director of Belonging & Community Engagement at the Toledo Museum of Art (TMA).

Rhonda Sewell
is a transformative arts leader whose work sits at the intersection of cultural equity, storytelling, and institutional change. As Director of Belonging & Community Engagement at the Toledo Museum of Art, she leads strategic initiatives that expand access, strengthen community partnerships, and embed inclusive practices into the museum’s core values and operations. Her work has positioned TMA as a national model for museums seeking to redefine what belonging looks like in contemporary arts spaces.

Before joining the museum sector, Sewell spent more than two decades as an award-winning journalist and cultural writer, amplifying the stories of creatives, communities, and changemakers across the Midwest. Her career also includes impactful roles in public policy, where she advanced legislative priorities centered on arts access, education, and cultural representation.

Widely recognized for her insight on cultural stewardship, creative economy growth, and community-centered museum practices, Sewell is a sought-after speaker and advisor to arts institutions nationwide. Her commitment to equity, inclusion, and authentic community collaboration continues to shape the future of the field.
