Black Art & Culture Festival Back for 2023


Racine, WI.  November 1, 2022 - Mahogany Black Arts & Cultural Center is excited to announce the Wisconsin Black Art & Culture Expo is returning for the second year in a row.  2023 brings what is affectionately referred to as Expo2, a collaborative, community celebration of Black creatives in the arts, locally, nationally and historically.  Expo2 is an initiative of Mahogany Black Arts & Cultural Center, Inc. (MBACC) located in Racine,  Wisconsin.  Expo2 is a two-month long series of events that encompasses several activities that will be held at UW-Parkside, Mahogany Black Arts & Cultural Center, and other venues throughout Racine and Milwaukee. 

The inaugural Expo in 2022 garnered over 3,000 attendees and participants both in-person and virtually.  2022 highlights include an art exhibit featuring 12 visual artists from across the United States, an art industry panel discussion from practicing artists, live musical performances by musicians from New York, Chicago and Wisconsin, a large fashion show showcasing the work of Black clothing retailers and designers, an evening tribute to Black poets and the Black Women’s roundtable.

Expo2 will bring a more robust schedule of arts centered events that include a Harlem Renaissance themed Black Tie Gala, the first Legacy In The Arts Awards, the renowned Sweatshop Dance Team performance, a curated art exhibition, career development workshops for artists, the popular Night of Excellence Fashion Show and special events at Black-owned art and historical venues in Racine and Milwaukee.

Expo2 is excited to have the following organizations as key partners and sponsors, UW-Parkside, Racine Family YMCA, Froedtert Medical College of Wisconsin and Patton Law Office.
